Refined castor oil, or otherwise castor oil.
Clear, almost colorless or pale yellow viscous oil. It has a slight odor and taste that is initially mild but then becomes slightly pungent. Soluble in ethanol (95%). Practically insoluble in water and mineral oil, unless mixed with another vegetable oil.
The
castor oil comes from processing the fruit (Castor Bean) of the Ricinus Communis plant. It has been traditionally used as a medicinal oil since the time of Ancient Egypt. Castor oil is particularly rich in Omega-9 fatty acids called Ricinoleic Acids. These acids show remarkable anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and for this reason, in recent years, castor oil has become particularly popular for treating serious skin conditions such as acne. At the same time, castor oil is a first-class moisturizing product, as it has the ability to "trap" the skin's moisture, preventing its dehydration and premature aging.
