(former ELIMINEX)
Fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS) are a form of soluble carbohydrate found in many vegetables, such as endives and onions. When taken orally, they are only partially absorbed, as most of them are used as a nutrient medium for the growth of normal bacterial flora of the intestine (mainly including the genera Bifidobacteria and Lactobacillus).
This results in the prebiotic action of fructo-oligosaccharides, ie the growth of bacteria of the normal intestinal flora and the reduction of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The prebiotic function of FOS leads to the improvement of intestinal tone, the regulation of peristaltic bowel movements and the improvement of gastrointestinal discomfort due to intestinal dysfunction.
Nutritional studies have shown that daily intake of 8g FOS for 2 weeks is accompanied by an increase in the number of bacteria in the normal intestinal flora (Prebiotic effect). More specifically, it is accompanied by a tenfold increase of Bifidobacteria, a threefold increase of Lactobacilli, while it causes a simultaneous reduction of the pathogenic Bacteriodes.
It is suitable for all ages, including children and pregnant women, as well as for people who follow a diet without yeast, and for people on medication. Can be used for a long time.
Suitable for vegetarians
Dosage: (1 tablespoon = 5g)
This product can be used in one of 2 ways:
I) In small doses, to maintain the general health of the intestine and as a prebiotic
II) In larger doses, to maintain bowel function
Prebiotic dose:
Initial dose Maintenance dose
Adults: 5g 10g
Children 4 years and over: 2.5g 5g
To regulate intestinal function and bowel movements:
Initial dose of 3 days Normal Maximum
Adults: Try 5g 15g 20g
Children 4 years and older: Try 5g 5g 10g
Dissolve in hot drinks or mix with cereals. You can also get it from the spoon directly. Make sure you drink 2 liters of fluids a day
Storage: Store in a cool and dry environment and protected from light.
Allergies: None
Precautions: If any of the above dosage regimens cause increased gas production, then it is recommended to reduce the dose received and gradually increase it. Gas production is a product of the metabolism of the growing number of bacteria in the intestinal flora and therefore a sign that FOS is working.
Gradually and if the use of FOS continues the production of gases will decrease as the new beneficial bacteria produced will absorb the gases. For doses above 10g (or 5g in children): it is recommended to take the daily dose in 2 separate doses (noon-evening), which helps to reduce the amount of gas produced. FOS may cause temporary swelling. This is a temporary symptom, which gradually disappears as your digestive system becomes more active. If the swelling continues for more than 3 days then it is recommended to reduce the dose of FOS taken.
