This is due to its ability to activate calcitonin, a hormone produced by humans that helps absorb Calcium from the bones. Vitamin K is absorbed mainly in the upper part of the small intestine with the help of bile or bile salts and pancreatic juices and is then transported to the liver. Vitamin K is found in nature's plant and animal sources, with high concentrations in dark leafy green vegetables, liver, milk and fish liver oils.
