How to insert the NUK nipple shield correctly:To find the right size for you, you first need to answer some questions: Do I feel like the shield is fitted and do I feel comfortable wearing it? Does the nipple fill the empty space of the shield? Do the baby's lips fit snugly around the shield? If your answer is "yes" to these questions, you have found the right size for your nipple shield and you can start using them. You need to follow these steps so that your favorite baby can enjoy breastfeeding:
- Before using the nipple shield, you should wash your hands thoroughly and clean your breasts with a damp cloth.
- The application of NUK nipple shields can be enhanced by lightly wetting the nipples with water or breast milk.
- For optimal placement on the nipple, pull the cone contact surfaces aside so that you can easily place it in the center. You can then place the contact surfaces back and align them according to the desired breastfeeding position.
- After each use, you should clean the breast with water to remove milk residue and therefore avoid germs.
How to clean the breastfeeding shieldWhen in contact with your baby it is essential to follow the rules of hygiene very consistently every time. After using the nipple shield it is good to clean it immediately with warm water and a mild cleansing liquid. It can then be dried in a hygienic area. The protective case provided is then stored there. You can disinfect or boil the nipple shield daily. This can be easily done in minutes with the help of a NUK steam sterilizer. When sterilizing by boiling, completely cover the shield with water to avoid damage and boil it immediately. If you follow the rules of hygiene you can reuse the nipple shield several times.
