Ubiquinol 100 mg is the active form of coenzyme CoQ-10. CoQ-10 coenzyme exists in two chemical forms - oxidized (ubiquinone) and reduced (ubiquinol). Ubiquinol is found in large amounts in body tissues that are very metabolically active such as skeletal muscle, heart muscle and liver cells.
In younger, healthy adults, the conversion of ubiquinone (the most common form of CoQ-10) to ubiquinol in the body's cells is almost immediate. However, as we age CoQ-10 levels decline and the conversion of CoQ-10 (ubiquinone) to ubiquinol is less effective.
