It is an ideal iron and B12 formula for vegetarians, as in addition to iron and B12 it also provides very high levels of lysine (an amino acid found mainly in meat and increases iron absorption). Therefore people who don't eat meat, in addition to not getting iron that is adequately absorbed (plant iron is non-heme and poorly absorbed), they don't get lysine either. In addition the iron is in the form of ferrous disglycinate. This form (together with iron citrate) is very gentle on the stomach and intestine (does not cause gastrointestinal disturbances).
