Arginine is classified as a non-essential amino acid, although many researchers consider it "conditionally essential". This separation occurs because the body is unable to produce sufficient amounts of arginine during periods of rapid growth, in the event of trauma and in stressful situations. It is found in foods such as dairy products, meat, poultry, fish and nuts, but is generally present in low levels in fruits and vegetables. The body uses arginine to produce NO (nitrogen monoxide), a substance with a vasodilating effect. Each tablet provides 1000mg of free form Arginine for maximum absorption and bioavailability.
