Starflower (borage) seeds contain the highest percentage of GLA of any plant and in this formulation each capsule provides a guaranteed 215mg of GLA, making it one of the strongest formulations available on the market. Its advantage is that you only need to take one capsule a day, unlike evening primrose where you need to take more capsules to get the same amount GLA. GLA is the precursor substance of a particularly important prostaglandin of PGE1, which participates in a multitude of important biological functions.
Despite the fact that the body can produce GLA from Linoleic acid (the Omega 6 fatty acid found in vegetable oils), this conversion is often slowed down or even completely inhibited.
